Sara Stilianos

Sara Stilianos currently works in Community Mental Health and for JRI, recently commenced studying a Master’s Degree, volunteers in varying spaces in Social Justice spaces and advocates for marginalised and criminalised people. Sara understands first-hand the drivers of incarceration, the harms of the justice system and the way imprisonment further exacerbates existing trauma. Sara shares her personal lived experiences and deep expert knowledge of systemic harm, social injustice, trauma and Mental Health decline and varying intersections of pain, systems, and services. Sara embraces the connections and opportunities shared as a FIGJAM member, and the work we each do with the justice system to bring about change. Sara advocates for non-carceral responses to disadvantage and is focused on building communities where disadvantage is not met with a punitive, criminal justice system response
